Telecom Matters or not ???

Every Single Second counts (Well, Quite Literally in this sector). But I have never understood the reason & hence always there is this big question.... "Is it the only thing that matters ?"

The idea of this blog elicited when I visited one Vodafone Store. There were more than 15 people waiting patiently for more than 45 minutes for their turn . I did some calculations to know whether the time they spent in a "Red Painted" Store with the "Zoozoos" was actually worth it or not !

Here is a brief glimpse of the calculation.

  • An average Indian uses his cell phone for 10 minutes daily.
  • Assuming the best & the most commonly available scheme these days, 1ps/ Sec.
  • The cost per day on an average come to Rs.6-8/-.
  • Hence Monthly average bill being Rs.180-240/-.
  • So an average spent on talk-time for a period of 6-8 months is Rs.1260-1680/-.
  • I have considered 6-8 months because, that is the average time an Indian Consumer doesnt replace his cell phone.
  • Eventually we incur a notional loss of atleast Rs.3000-4000 on a normal handset of Rs.10000/- while on a resale spree.

If we calculate the per day expense of both Talktime & Handset, we are paying almost triple of what we think we are actually paying.

So, Think again before buying the cheapest call rate service provider because what matters all the more is which handset you are using & how often you replace it !!!!

Also one more question which actually negates the entire above discussion is : does a few hundred rupees every month affect any normal working class person ??

Like, a normal person wouldnt mind spending Rs.200 at a coffee shop, but would wait outside the shop & send a text to someone for whom he has been waiting rather than calling (Ok, some critics would frown reading this, because they would never waste time texting & rather call up... So let me cearify before you post a hate comment for this statement, this is just an example & very subjective..) Also when some "Virgin" operator pays us for incoming calls, how much does it add upto !!!!

So I dont understand, from when & where has this mental block started & why has this outgrown to such an extent.  Why do we feel that every single paisa matters when on phone ?

Does it really matter or it is a block intentionally created by some companies, who sell Value Added Services as a package with cheap calling rates !!!

Check Videocon Zero Paisa Calling 's link, to see how the telecom sector is about to fool the customers again under the disguise of Cheap Calling rates !!!

All we want is quality talking. One more fact to mention is the Loop Mobile Call Drop Advantage. They lit the entire city up the other day with hoardings saying, if you have a call drop text CD on 50505 & get 50 ps, credited to your account in next two hours.. !!!
Oh c'mon Dude !!! Does it even matter.. As if I am gonna actually call up "the not so caring" customer care desk, wait for hours, fight over this petty issue; just in case the amount is not credited... !!! Funny... !!! Rather Not... !!!

I feel, we should read between the lines & try & act smart by going for quality service rather than cheap service !!!!
